Werner Aisslinger
Born in 1964, designer Werner Aisslinger's work spans the entire spectrum of artistic approaches, including product design and architecture. He designs for some of Germany's most prestigious companies such as HansGrohe, Kaldewei and Nomos. He loves to utilise the latest technologies and has helped to introduce new materials and techniques into the world of products, as with his unique gel furniture with the "soft cell" collection and the "soft" lounger for zanotta in 2000.
The "July chair (cappellini)" was the first piece of furniture to use a new foam called "polyurethane integral foam" and was the first German chair design since 1964 to be selected as a permanent exhibit at the MoMA in New York. In 2012, together with BASF and Moroso, he designed the sustainable "Hemp Chair" - the world's first biocomposite monoblock chair. He has created striking designs and received awards from all over the world - from the Milan Compasso d'Oro to the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Red Dot Award, the FX Award in the UK and the American Interior Design Award. Werner Aisslinger's "loftcube" project has become one of the most discussed modular and transportable living projects in recent years.
His works are exhibited in the permanent collections of international museums such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the French Fonds National d'Art Contemporain in Paris, the Victora & Albert Museum in London, the Museum Neue Sammlung in Munich and the Vitra Design Museum in Weil, Germany.
As part of his solo exhibitions, Werner Aisslinger opened "Home of the future" at the Berlin museum "Haus am Waldsee". In 2014 he had the exhibition AW Designer of the Year at the Kölnischer Kunstverein gallery in Cologne and in 2017 the exhibition "House of wonders" at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.
In 2018, he founded studio aisslinger gmbh & co kg, a global interior design consultancy. consulting company. His most recent work includes hotels for the 25hours Hotels Group in Europe and the Middle East, mall designs for the Central Group in Bangkok, Thailand, New Work projects for the Metropolis Group in San Francisco and Houston and office landscapes for Zalando in Germany. Studio aisslinger is known for its innovative spatial approach to storytelling. Werner Aisslinger lives and works in Berlin and has a second studio in Singapore.
